Quick fix on 2025.0.3 version to improve Explorer performance. Removed Explorer shell window refreshes after a large change that cause Explorer windows to go into "Working on it…" mode. These no longer seem to be required in the latest Windows 11 versions. In older versions after some changes you may need to manually hit F5 to refresh the window in some circumstances. 2025.0.3 After first time install, the control panel will suggest starting tutorial mode to help the user understand the control panel. It is recommended for all users to use tutorial mode at least once to understand how the control panel works. Performance option: Always transparent on desktop button now has a double click option to toggle recursing into desktop folders when performing a folder refresh / apply to refresh. The default is disabled for performance. Some control panel button states were not showing the correct icon representation. Blocked folder function was disabled. Regression from 2025.0.1. PaintShop Pro files were not working correctly. Regression from 2024.6.6. Small icons in list / details view were not correct when a file extension had a custom icon enabled with a non-zero index. Tip of the day now only shows once a day when the control panel is opened instead of every time it's opened (you know - because it's tip of the day). |

This version replaces 2025.0.1 due to the major bug fixed and the short time frame. Some file formats were showing as a folder as if they were an archive (zip) file, such as Office Open XML Word / Excel documents. Regression in 2025.0.1. Removed a spurious popup when updating from 2025.1.1 where it would say 'Uninstall Complete' and require user input, which is not required. Improved core performance. |

A handful of downloads of an install version 2025.0.0 may have been installed. This version was a mislabelled version of this. Issues with the installer when updating from an older version could cause the update to misbehave. Targa images with blending traits now treat their alpha as non-premultiplied so that images with an alpha channel that are completely black (value 0) can be viewed on opaque / pre-multiplied modes set. This is useful for game textures where the alpha channel is used for things like gloss maps. Optimised and improved install / uninstall / update procedures to be more streamlined with some extra options for restarting control panel on update and ignoring some uninstall options on update. Prompt to optionally open control panel immediately after installing / updating. Added a new Fallback mode to thumbnail and small icon enables. When using fallback, an existing system or installed thumbnail/icon provider is used instead of MysticThumbs. Useful for system types such as PNG, JPEG and others such as PDF. If there is no fallback provider, MysticThumbs acts the same as being Enabled. Tooltip shown for updated versions to inform the user of the new 'fallback' thumbnail and small icon modes, including an option to restore effected file types to their default settings where appropriate. Performance and gamma controls were not showing. Regression from 2024.6.3. Added "Install Complete" and "Uninstall Complete" dialogs so the user knows that the process is complete. Improved postscript and adobe illustrator image ping. PDF set to fallback thumbnails by default for computers that have an existing Adobe thumbnailer that will likely be much faster than Ghostscript. Improvements to recommended task dialogs with recommended actions where appropriate. When switching between files using cursor keys in QuickView, the position of the QuickView window is kept as the anchor position when switching to and from large files, so the window doesn't end |

As we begin to close out the year, the focus has been on fixing some performance issues and tidying things up. Performance improvements to property system that was causing long system locking issues. Fixed some issues with postscript based files not reporting correct sizes depending on their file units. Should result in better thumbnails and QuickView imaging. Very significant performance improvements to PDF / Postscript file reading and rendering. Fixed potential crash in Blocked Folders dialog when removing folders. Improved properties fetch and rendering for DSO based file formats (Office Document, Publisher, 3ds Max, Kubotek). Fixed some image formats with files > 8 bit depth such as DICOM Medical Images. QuickView resizing and clamping improved. Updated recommended GhostScipt version to 10.04.0. If you want the latest recommended Ghostscript, uninstall both 32 and 64 bit versions using the Add/Remove programs control panel before updating / installing. |

Due to lack of beta testers, we are releasing versions 2024.6.x as a kind of single version Release Candidate. Read the following carefully and only update if you are happy to test. You can always uninstall and reinstall the previous version. This release will continue, with the revision number being incremented, for limited amount of time and then be unavailable whilst we review user reports and confirm stability. This cycle will continue until we are happy the release is stable for full release. If the download is not currently available, we are awaiting reports from users. We would appreciate any reports, be they problems or that everything is working as expected. 2024.6.2 Added context menu item 'Restore Depth' when file(s) have a non-default depth buffer state set. Improved energy efficiency of control panel by removing a regular poll not required. Maya IFF files with a depth buffer now refresh correctly when toggling the depth buffer in QuickView. Using the context menu in QuickView could lead to losing keyboard input, requiring switching to and from another application. Refresh open folders sometimes didn't work when applying changes. Adornment button option is always able to be toggled now, even if a file format / extension is disabled. 2024.6.1 Includes changes from previous pulled version 2024.5.0 and previous beta versions. Fixes for Maya IFF files. Fixes and improvements to Amiga images including best correct for hires / lace modes for aspect ratio, better support for HAM and SHAM images. Choose icon dialog changing file may have caused a crash when selecting an icon file after a DLL file. If using choose icon to select an override UWP PNG icon, now detects if there is a 256 size version to use as the override icon to avoid small icons being used. This major version includes an overhaul to the help system (user guide) and documentation and a new 'Tip of the day' control panel option. Pressing F1 on a control now accurately takes you to the correct place in the help for a faster reference. Local help is now opened in your default browser application. New help system using a local web server instead compiled help. Local help is now the default option. Context menu might not have opened when in collapsed mode. Regression from 2024.4.1. Web based files now render to a filepage icon in thumbnail mode for consistency with other document type files such as text. Improved the behaviour of restarting Explorer. Added new feature 'Tip of the day' that will show a random tutorial tip when opening the control panel. Improved show/hide on some controls when starting / stopping tutorial mode. Updated tutorial text for global context menu option to reflect recent changes. Updated control panel local/online help to better reflect current version. Updated credits / hints. Added RichText file format (.rtf). The new RichText renderer is now used for the Text format to achieve a more consistent overall image and better performance. This may introduce some unexpected visual changes from prior releases. Global context menu option changed so there is no disable option. Instead use the 'requires shift key' option (changed by double clicking the button). Some improvements to the credits screen. Various other bug fixes and tweaks. |
