This release of VMware Fusion addresses the following issues: Fusion 11.5.3 addresses a privilege escalation vulnerability due to improper use of setuid binaries. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project has assigned the identifier CVE-2020-3950 to this issue. Fusion 11.5.2 had an incomplete fix for CVE-2020-3950 and addressed the issue only partially. This release has a complete fix for CVE-2020-3950. For more information, see VMSA-2020-0005. |

RESOLVED ISSUES: Using vmrun commands to perform guest operations inside a Mac virtual machine fail: When you use a vmrun command, such as vmrun runProgramInGuest/copyFileFromHostToGuest/listProcessesInGuest, to perform guest operations inside a Mac virtual machine, the command fails with the the following error: Error: Authentication failure or insufficient permissions in guest operating system. All subsequent attempts to run the same command fail with the following error: Error: Invalid user name or password for the guest OS. |
